Matko Meštrović is an art historian and social theorist. He graduated and received his doctorate in Design Theory at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb. He was the director of the Croatian Institute of Culture (1987–92), professor at the Interfaculty Study of Design (1991–94), scientific adviser at the Institute of Economics (from 1993–2005). He was a member of the artistic group Gorgona, one of the founders and theoreticians of New Tendencies (1961) and a member of the editorial board of the magazine Bit-international (1968–72). It advocates the improvement of industrial and design culture and deals with the problems of contemporary social development. Main works: From the individual to the general (1967/2005), (Outlines without a pattern (1978), Design theory and problems of the environment (1980), World, consciousness and dependence (1983), Goods and freedom (1995), Time of reality (2002) and Towards a new direction (2011) and To where? Until when? (2018). He published his first collection of poems Razaznanja in 2011, and In 2019, in Sandorf, he published the second Ono ošto nijde nije (2019) and prepared the third Will the future come to us?!
