Vesna Solar (1972), literary historian, theater and literary critic and translator, has been the editor of the Ex libris publishing house for many years, and since 2010 the editor-in-chief of this publishing house. He has been publishing theater reviews and presentations since his high school days, first on Youth Radio, and then from 1995 to 1997 in the magazine Homo volans, where he is also the editor of the theater section. His criticisms appear in the magazines Vijenac, Tema and Zarez, on the Third Program of Croatian Radio and on Books' internet portal. The essays in this selection "Paradoxes of the Knight that does not exist", "The Master and Margarita as a historical novel" and "History as a small story" are published for the first time, while the literary criticisms are a selection previously published in the magazine Tema, the Bibliovizor of the Third Program of Croatian Radio and on Books' internet portal in the period from 2008 to 2011.
