Summary
Ariel Holt-Jensen: What is geography?
"All human action takes place in place and space. The world is full of places, from mountain peaks and forest areas to cities, streets and houses. When we move quickly and do not pay too much attention to the places we pass through, they will merge into each other, so that in our consciousness it is a journey through space. Distance registered as a kilometer, travel time or as psychologically experienced distance becomes more important than the places we pass through. Traveling through space in the modern world, we notice that many differences between places are erased; all places are more similar to each other - the architecture of the solitaire is the same in almost all large cities. Thus, globalization has created new approaches to the study of space, time and territoriality, but also new and exciting impulses have come through postmodernist directions, through which, among other things, we have learned how gender affects the understanding of space, as well as the collection of data."
