Summary
Hans Magnus Enzensberger: Gentler poems
To see through something, a problem in its entirety, and at the same time remain opaque – that is the great skill of Hans Magnus Enzensberger.
Enzensberger's poems are scattered meditations in the form of unrhymed verses and stanzas. When reading - and it is a great pleasure to read these gentle, surprising, wise and sometimes, despite all skepticism, wonderfully playful texts - we realize that the lyric is not only about a clear lyrical form. Whether something is "lyric" is also a question of subjectivity that expresses itself in verse, a linguistic attitude that gives rise to metaphors, a mood that binds words together - and not only a question of form.
