The novel problematizes reality, but also builds on it in the direction of futurism and dystopia. The action begins in 1990, when the four main characters meet somewhere in the West as scholarship holders from transition countries. Different relationships develop between them, which oscillate over time, but this is only an introduction to what will happen later. Their destinies plummet, their personalities degrade, and Koščec writes every fate as a psychological study. In the background of the characters, all the threatening horrors of everyday life are problematized, and the novel is interspersed with numerous essays on current topics. It is written sharply and smartly, in an elegant style.
