"This is your life." Marinko Koščec's seventh novel begins with that sentence, and indeed, what then dissolves before our eyes is our life, the people who surround us, our era, our spaces. It is a multi-layered story full of insightful insights, imbued with wit and irony that dissects individual behavior and collective illnesses through the prism of the protagonist's consciousness.

The basic thread is the almost hermetic relationship between a man and a woman who remain together despite increasingly difficult disputes and the inevitable echoes of what is called a crisis in social reality, although it has grown into a permanent state. There is also a wide gallery of secondary characters: failed, unsatisfied individuals, losers who, with their destinies, personify various delusions, dead ends and escapes into their own imaginations.

Brit anatomy, darkly humorous criticism, erotic rapture, deep introspectiveness, elegance of expression, Koščec combines all this into an explosive whole in this hour-long bitter and moving journey towards the mysterious origin announced on at the beginning.

Marinko Koščec was born in 1967 in Zagreb. Graduated in English and French language and literature at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb in 1992. Master's degree in literature at the University of Paris VII in 1995 and at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb in 1997. Doctorate in 2005 with work on the works of Michel Houellebecq. Employed at the Department of French Literature, Department of Romance Studies, Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb.

Novelist, essayist and translator, published novels: "Island under the sea" (Feral tribune, 1999), "Someone else" (Konzor, 2001, award 'Meša Selimović'), "Wonderland" (2003, award V.B.Z.), "To malo pijeska na dlana" (Profil, 2005), "Centimeter of happiness" (Profil, 2008), "The Fourth Man" (Algoritam, 2011) and "In Search of the Beginning of the Circle" (Sandorf, 2016).

Other books: collection of essays and translations: "Sketches for a portrait of contemporary French prose" (Konzor, 2003), study "Michel H. – miracle, martyr, manipulator" (HDP and Izdanja Antibarbarus, 2007), "Mrmor in to the dark: Anthology of French short stories" (Profil, 2007).
