In the boarding house where he stayed, the corpse of a girl was found with traces of a vampire bite, and Bram Stoker, the author of *Dracula*, stayed in the same place a few months earlier. A few days later, a local drunkard falls from a bridge into the river, and the locals say that the unfortunate man was killed either by a vampire or by the wandering souls of Napoleon's soldiers. Searching for the boy, the stranger will discover the cause of these tragic deaths, but he has more important tasks ahead of him. The hero and narrator of Dežulović's award-winning novel is tasked with killing an eight-year-old child to prevent him from killing millions of people as a neurotic adult. Where did the hero get this knowledge about future events? Quite simply: he was sent by a time machine from Split at the end of the 20th century to change the course of history.
