And so the man stands on that bare and windy hill, plowing and digging up the mountain land, watching over the cattle, and there is nothing to be proud of because his every effort is a little truncated and cannot be entirely his own. (…) When autumn comes, I go to my village for a while. And there – real life! Have you ever listened to the crackling of wood in the stove while the heartbreaking frost grips outside?
