Summary
Mario Vargas Llosa: The Discreet Hero
Small businessman Felícito Yanaqué is a completely ordinary citizen who unexpectedly finds himself in a difficult situation when local mobsters ask him to pay for their protection. Listening to the advice of his father who told him long ago "Son, don't let anyone step on you", he refuses to pay blackmailers and fight for his dignity. At the same time, the rich businessman Ismael Carrera plans revenge on his selfish and spendthrift sons. Both protagonists, although already in advanced years, stand up in defense of human values and the lives they have built and do not give in to the demands of criminals.
