The Epic of Gilgamesh
Written on twelve tablets, this story can be divided into two equal parts. The first part is devoted to the glorification of the main hero Gilgamesh, a great, wise and powerful divine-human being: he is one-third mortal and two-thirds god. The second part boils down to efforts to discover the secret of eternal life, the key of which was only managed to be taken by a chosen man - Utnapishtim. The quest for immortality takes on enormous proportions. Gilgamesh becomes obsessed with the thought that he could avoid death and this thought gives him the strength to overcome the insurmountable, to make the impossible possible...
