Summary

Akif Pirincci: Felidae

Presenting any writer who is still unknown to the readership is always a risky publishing move, especially when the author comes from a country rich in literary tradition and writes in a language that is not his mother tongue. But the publication of the novel "Felidae" by the German writer of Turkish origin Akif Pirinçci certainly does not represent any risk - neither for the most respected Croatian editor Zlatko Crnković, nor for the publisher of the world's most famous bestsellers, and least of all for the readers who will enjoy the search with the serial killer seen through the eyes of Francis the cat. In his first novel, Pirinçci skilfully combined the elements of a crime novel and a horror novel, seasoning it all with a good dose of razor-sharp humor that peeks out from almost every carefully measured sentence. That is why it is not unusual that this novel became the best-selling book in Germany, that a full-length cartoon was made based on it, and that it saw many foreign editions. Pirincci is the author of two novels, "Felidae" and its sequel "Francis", as well as a study on the behavior of cats, so his knowledge of the feline genus is in some way a guarantee of the novel's authenticity.
