Jelčić Andy

Summary

Andy Jelčić: The Year of the Transmigration of Hearts The year is 1967. Going to Sudan, the main hero, a surgeon, faces new areas of his choices, professional and emotional, which enrich him with determination, but also bring the dynamics of a thriller into his life. It is this dynamic, the growing and well-motivated tension, that attracts the reader to the text and leads him to passionately enter the pages of the novel in anticipation of the denouement. By situating his novel in the recent, yet distant past marked by the determinants of a different social system, the author becomes aware of the limits of human choices and the strategy of avoiding traps that can redirect a person's destiny. Known as one of the most respected Croatian translators and laureate of numerous awards, Andy Jelčić had the opportunity to learn the literary craft from the masters of world literature. When he embarked on his own literary creation, he had already mastered all the skills that relate primarily to the functional use of language, but also to the construction of literary characters through episodes of the plot, and how to effectively combine one into the other's function so that the result is a convincing prose text. Thanks to these pre-acquired virtues, Andy Jelčić develops his novel with the fluidity that characterizes a well-composed film. Ludwig Bauer This novel irrevocably changes the landscape of Croatian contemporary literature and offers a view of the vistas along which the dust settles and our living past breathes under it. Ivana Šojat   Andy Jelčić graduated in English and German Studies and received a master's degree in the field of literary theory at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb.
