Summary
Emmanuel Carrère: Yoga
the book is underlined
This is a book about yoga. Or at least she was. Emmanuel Carrere is a celebrated writer. After long decades of emotional turmoil, he found success in life - he is healthy, works, loves. He meditates, tries to observe the world without value judgments. In this sharpened state of consciousness, he embarks on a ten-day retreat in silence in the heart of France, far from cell phones, books and his own everyday life. In addition, he is collecting material for a new book: he plans to write a cheerful and useful introduction to yoga. After four days, they knock on his window?: something happened. Due to the force of circumstances, he shortens his retreat and returns to Paris. There is confusion in the city. His own work is starting to get stuck. His marriage is falling apart, his relationship with his lover is falling apart. He vacillates between extremes - self-destruction and self-control, lucidity and madness, rapture and despair. The story he was telling about himself faded away. Then again, live on. This is a book about one man's desire to recover and be better. Riddled with suspicion, the drive is a dangerous interplay of fiction and reality. Full of love, witty, painful and deep, Yoga will push us towards the outer edges of consciousness, where we finally see things in the right light.
