As a student and youth activist, Branko Polić is an authentic witness of a stormy and little-described period, in which lost time and damages caused by the Second World War are being compensated.
These are records of the period after the split with the USSR, and the first signs of a freer future. Polić writes using his own diaries and correspondence, unencumbered by "subsequent memory". With this volume, the author's dramatic youth ends, a serious life begins. He became increasingly active in journalism and later became a legendary classical music editor, newspaper critic and publicist at Radio Zagreb.
On the threshold of the future is the fourth and final volume of the most extensive autobiography in Croatian literature so far.
