Summary
Josef Winkler is an important author of contemporary Austrian literature. The novel Natura morta (2001) became his most successful book in which Winkler, playing with motifs and metaphors, using a language reminiscent of the rhythmic forms of the Baroque, illustrates the composition of food and sex, and, finally, death as a counterpart to life.
