Summary
Dario Držaj: The Secret of the Forgotten Kingdom
Jeff Winston, a mediocre reporter for one of the many New York radio stations died when he was forty-two. A blow from an eerily cold sledgehammer came out of nowhere and hit him straight in the chest. The last thing he saw was a cracked paper holder in his office. And then he opened his eyes lying in bed in his dorm room at Emory University, which he attended when he was eighteen. By some inexplicable miracle, Jeff Winston was given another chance to fix everything he did wrong and change his failed career, rotten marriage and sad existence. Suddenly, he is faced with an unlimited number of possibilities. How will he live his new life in which he knows all the secrets and traps that the future hides, as a billionaire, philanthropist, hedonist, philosopher, writer, hermit or as an ordinary person? Ken Grimwood received the "World Fantasy Award" for the novel Ože odnem, mainly because of the originality of the idea, the refined style and the breaking of the rigid frameworks of the genre. The jury may have been impressed by the attempt to answer some of the basic philosophical questions about the meaning of life, but that's just the spice of what is probably the most intriguing and romantic love story ever told. Full of joy in life, painful truths, tragic losses, longing memories and ravishing idealism, this novel offers complete reading pleasure. Neither space nor time nor death will be an obstacle to it. Translated by Goran Brkić, with illustrations by Igor Kordej Once again, Ken Grimwood is just waiting for the day when he will be transferred to the movie screen with Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt in the main roles..
