Summary
Andrej Beli: Records of a Stranger
"Records of a Stranger" is a work characteristic of the "middle phase" of Andrej Beli's work. It is a kind of mixture of a novelized autobiography and an intimate diary of the author himself, on the one hand, and pure new fiction whose main character is Leonid Ledeni, on the other, in which Beli describes his last days in Steiner's Dornach, his love for Asya Turgenev, his return to Russia in the middle of war operations, and the first signs of a doubling of personality and the birth of a true Self on the verge of madness, through the memory of the time before birth, "when he played with Him in the Father's house
Translating this of books, Mirjana Grbić once again showed that she is very capable of dealing with the most demanding works of Russian literature, among which the "untranslatable" novels of Andrej Beli are certainly in the first place, and that she makes the almost impossible possible.
