Summary
Shimon bar Yochai: Zohar VIII
The tree of life is the source of all joy. It is the source of wisdom and pleasure, the abode of immortality and eternal peace. When we connect with this divine dimension, we realize what true fullness, joy and immortality mean. But as soon as we separate from this Tree, we fall into the chaos and bustle of human existence, because we are left at the mercy of the physical domain of darkness, known as the Tree of Knowledge of Reality or Good and Evil.
When we decide to walk the spiritual path, the moments of suffering and pain are mercifully shortened. For those who stubbornly persist in self-indulgence, the suffering is intensified and prolonged. The light shining through this narrative ends our personal and global exile. The tears that flowed throughout history, until today, will evaporate in a moment, the moment the Heavens open to let in the warm rays of the Creator. Thanks to Jacob, whose magnificent soul encompasses all of humanity, we can rejoice, because our redemption is realized precisely through this amazing Book of Glory.
