Summary
Ivo Hergešić: Domači i strani
In the book Strani i domači (Zagreb, 1935), Ivo Hergešić pointed out that its author was "used to looking at the domestic in comparison with the foreign". This often serves as a yardstick and a point of reference for him, just as he often judges the value of other people's cultural assets according to domestic needs and reasons. And he came to domestic literature in a slightly roundabout way - walking in other people's literary fields». Thirty years later, when he institutionalized this idea as a university professor of comparative studies at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb, he defined the purpose and meaning of that study as "fitting Croatian literature into the currents of so-called world literature", which ultimately contributes to and serves the "revaluation" of heritage. In this volume, not coincidentally titled Domestic and foreign, priority in the selection of texts is given to domestic writers. Among others, the following local writers were covered: Marko Marulić, Petar Hektorović, Dradutin Domjanić, Vladimir Nazor and others.
