Summary

Herni Duvernois: Fugue

A novel by a composer

Two excellent novellas by the French storyteller Henri Duvenrois. In the first one, it is about a neurasthenic musician, to whom the doctor predicts his imminent death, and he, in order to make his death easier for his wife and daughter, indulges in a debauched life. A tragicomic denouement occurs, because the musician - recovers. The entire story is written in an extremely humorous way, so the reader does not leave the smile on his lips, until he reads the last line, from which he learns that a hidden tragedy actually took place there... In the second story, the tragedy is open. It describes a good and honest woman, whom her husband loves, but with his brutal love drives her to loathe. Two murders! Din 12.- Bound in cloth Din 22.- SEVEN SISTERS. The life of a Danish family, described by Karin Michaelis. The whole book is composed in the form of letters, which the sisters write to each other. The main role is played by an opera singer, who changes husbands like shirts and remarries several times, until finally she is left alone like a stump and indulges in sentimental sighing for her wasted youth. One sister ends up committing suicide, because her lover cheats on her and takes another. The leaves of the sister, who is, by trade, a Malo Varo midwife, are written with irresistible humor, until she settles down as the manager of the "Home for Corrupted Girls". The compassion of the great writer, who deeply feels for her female companions, hovers over the entire work. It is a beautiful and rich book, because it expresses everything that can be of interest to today's woman in her family and free life. When you read it, you feel the desire to give it to your loved ones with the words: "You have to read this".
