Most of the film is in English, but there are many scenes in Dari (the Afghan dialect of Farsi, or Persian). The cast of the film is made up of unknown actors from the Middle East who, with their extraordinary acting, bring us closer to the faces and political context of the tragic fate of Afghanistan, and the boys who play young Amir and Hasan are extremely believable and natural, and perfectly embody two boys of different ethnic and class origins, as well as their friendship that will grow into much more. Khaled Hosseini is one of the best-selling American writers in the 21st century, and in addition to his literary gems, he will also be remembered for the humanitarian work he accomplished through his foundation by saving and influencing the lives of countless people trapped in the whirlwind of war destruction, corruption and violence. In 2006, Hosseini was appointed a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador.
