It is the invention of a Croatian engineer from Chilo, dr. Mihoković, who can take off, like a hydroplane, into the air and thus avoid any possible persecution. From that ship, he was able to set fire to the arsenals in certain states, which are hostile to our national element, with some miraculous rays. And it worked. When he was finalizing his work, he sold his ship to the United States in America, but the revenge of a mafia had to reach the now unfortunate engineer, who in an insidious way caught him in their nets and wanted to send him to Europe, to pay with his head for his patriotic exploits... The novel begins with that moment. The first New York detectives use all their powers to find the kidnapped hero, which they finally succeed in doing. Apache life in the underground hiding places of the great New York, prohibition violations, adventures of our and foreign emigrants, the most modern police apparatuses, which are used to find criminal acts, all this is described with reproachful skill and liveliness, which gathers all the interest of the readers.
