After World War I, a badly wounded American officer, Cliff Forrest, returns home to New Mexico as a nearly blind and broken man. His father, a rich rancher, died in suspicious circumstances, and the huge ranch was taken over by the greedy neighbor Lundeen, using dirty legal machinations.
