Steve Martin: Saleswoman A novel about a young woman Mirabelle with a degree in academic painting, who works in a large department store as a glove saleswoman. Having come from the province to Los Angeles in the hope of starting a life there, she actually found herself lost in the vast wasteland of the metropolis. Her life is spent in solitude and isolation, and her tendency to depression, shyness, insecurity and unobtrusive behavior reinforce her loneliness even more. A turning point in her life occurs when a middle-aged rich man invites her to dinner. This meeting breaks the monotony and grayness of her everyday life, but also opens up the possibility of an unpredictable development of events, which can equally bring her happiness, but also deeply hurt her...
