Summary

Rafel Nadal: The Curse of Palmisano

This novel is an unforgettable saga about two families caught in the period between two great wars. Palmisani and Convertini are natives of the southern Italian province of Apulia, and the death of their two sons on the very day the war ended will connect them in an unusual way. Donata Palmisano, the widow of the deceased Vito Oronzo, is determined to stop the series of numerous deaths that follow the men of the family like a curse and to save her first-born son at any cost. After giving birth, she hands him over to a friend who, a few hours apart, gives birth to a little girl, Giovanna.
Thus, her Vitantonio grows up as Giovanna Convertini's twin brother, he is attached to his sister, but also confused by feelings that are stronger than is usual for twins. However, the dramatic events of the Second World War will separate them, and the entire region, together with Bari, will become the scene of great war destruction. But whether Donata will succeed in his plan to outwit fate remains uncertain until the very end...
The Curse of Palmisano is an impressive, powerful epic about the suffering of civilians and the entire region in the whirlwind of war. From this shocking context grows a story about a superhuman struggle of an individual against fate, but at the same time a touching story develops about the impossible love of two people who grow up convinced that they are brother and sister. Rafel Nadal's storytelling skills combined with attractive plots and a convincing background of historical events make this novel an unforgettable experience. In addition, the author described the suffering of the Italian Apulia with such convincingness, warmth and passion that it is a miracle that the novel is not written by an Italian.
