Summary
Henryk Sienkiewicz: Quo Vadis?
Sienkiewicz finds the initial idea about the clash of two worlds, and then two value paradigms, in the thematization of the last years of Nero's reign and his attempt to liquidate members of an early Christian religious sect. The clash of worlds is absolute: the cruelty and arrogance of imperial Rome is opposed by the underground world of the people who believe in a new doctrine that preaches love for one's neighbor and faith in salvation. An excellent novel about the first Christians in Rome.
