Thompson Hunter

Summary

Hunter Thompson: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

There are writers whose literature has outgrown the authors themselves, and there are those whose literature has been overshadowed by the author himself. More precisely: the character of the author. Hunter Stockton Thompson belongs to the latter group, although when most people think of Thompson's name, they imagine Johnny Depp's character with orange glasses and a cigar butt, from the movie based on Hunter's most famous book, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Thanks to Fear and Loathing, Thompson became a brand, a pop culture icon that still attracts audiences today, both with his work and his controversial lifestyle. "I wouldn't recommend drugs, alcohol, violence and madness to anyone, but in my case they worked..." And they really did, because during his lifetime he published about twenty books and hundreds of newspaper articles, and among his legacy there were five stories, scattered and somehow forgotten, for which even the copyright owners did not know where they were! Thus, the stories in this book are not only the first time published in the Croatian language, but also the first time they have been published together as a collection of stories! Expectedly excellent, the stories bring a new perspective on the work and character of Hunter S. Thompson, on the writer in full force, at the same time breaking the stereotype of a battered and unrestrained adventurer who will use every opportunity to push the limits of endurance. Indispensable reading for all fans of this unsurpassed eccentric!
