Dva veka zajedno (1795-1995) I-II

Solženjicin Aleksandar

Summary

Aleksandar Solzhenitsyn: Two Centuries Together (1795 - 1995) I-II

Two-volume historical-publicist monograph Two Centuries Together, a work created at the very end of the writing career of the Nobel laureate Alexander Isaevich Solzhenitsyn, deals with Russian-Jewish relations and the coexistence of Russians and Jews on the soil of Imperial Russia and the Soviet Union from the end of the 17th century to the end of the 20th century. The first volume covers the period from 1795, when Russia annexed Eastern Poland, to 1916, the eve of the October Revolution, and the second one talks about the revolution itself and the time that followed.

Without imposing his opinion and quoting numerous public figures of that time, the author gives the reader the opportunity to look at the problem from all sides, and to literally feel what the members of the Slavic Russian felt in the given historical conditions, directed at each other and the Jewish people.
