Summary
Jean Back: Amater
The novel Amater was created from a template that Back compiled back in 1971. The novel partly describes true events - a rebellion among the youth that was swept by the revolutionary wave from large European centers after 1968, and is partly autobiographical. Written in a complex narrative form, punctuated by dynamic dialogues, Amater is a kind of Bildungsroman that describes one's own upbringing, but also the upbringing of the entire new post-war generation, along with the discovery of music, art, sexuality and new social and political values.
