Đinđić: memoari s onu stranu groba

Basara Svetislav

Summary

Svetislav Basara: Đinđić: memoirs from beyond the grave

A novelistic homage to the tragically martyred Serbian prime minister. My execution was the triumph of Darwinism, the necessity of evolution, in which the best do not win, but the most adaptable to the necrophilic environment. It was not a political struggle, but a struggle for survival. If my political project had succeeded, one human subspecies would be on the verge of extinction, I mean the subspecies homo semisapiens serbicus, the so-called landowners, who for centuries have been parasitizing the biological substance of the people, which (the biological substance of the people) richly deserves to be parasitized by the landowners, which moreover deserves to die out and which - sooner or later - will die out. The latest novel with a key by Svetislav Basara is another lavish carnival picture of the decline of Serbia, but actually a sharp satire about the assassination of Zoran Đinđić and the consequences of the rule of his political successors and the successors of his democratic views. The vision of today's Serbia that the former prime minister looks at himself from the grave is as humorous as it is bitter: like Archduke Franz Ferdinand in the novel Angel of Assassination, he presents his own, and rather peculiar, anatomy of the causes, prehistory and consequences of the terrible act that befell him, and above all of his historically based inspirers. With inexhaustible sarcasm and erudition and with burlesque hyperboles, the author of the "memoir" through the assassination syndrome ridicules examples of the upside-down Serbian mentality, the upside-down understanding of the state, politics and other forms and models of common social life, pointing out the key to their condemned bearers.
