Marquez Garcia Gabriel
Summary
Gabriel Garcia Marquez: The colonel has no one to write to
An aging colonel from an unnamed place in the Caribbean has only memories of a starving and twisted rooster. And yet, or precisely because of that, that rooster is the object of the unconditional love of its owner, an aging colonel who not only has no one to write to, but also, as it were, nothing to eat. However, the rooster won't even cook it, and won't sell it either. This novel is about great loneliness, but also about the deepest love. It also speaks of steadfastness, perseverance, as well as hopeless honesty. Because of this, the colonel's wife objects, and he still dreams of her even after fifty years of marriage, although he cannot sleep with her because he breathes hard due to asthma attacks.
