Summary
J. R. R. Tolkien: Roverandom
Third Edition!
In the summer of 1925, J.R.R. Tolkien with his wife and sons John, Michael and Christopher went on vacation to Filey, a small town on the Yorkshire coast. One day, while they were walking on the beach, young Michael lost his favorite toy - a small black and white lead dog. Even after a persistent search, they could not find him and the boy was desperate. To comfort him, his father J.R.R. Tolkien invented the story of a mischievous little dog who was shrunk and turned into a toy by the disgruntled old wizard Artaxerxes. After more than seventy years, the adventures of the dog Rover, called Roverand, were printed for the first time, and the editors of the English edition in a comprehensive introduction connect the story with Tolkien's later works, especially The Hobbit and The Silmarillion.
