Summary
Iain Pears: Stone's return
The wealthy and industrialist Stone was so powerful that he influenced governments, markets and industries on several continents, and the question is whether his death was a tragic accident or murder. His much younger, seductive widow Elizabeth will hire journalist Matthew Braddock to look for her late husband's child, whose existence she didn't even know existed until reading the will. Braddock, a newcomer to the world of financiers, will discover some very dangerous things: first of all, that the value of Stone's estate is much less than believed and, perhaps even more inconvenient, that he is powerless before the charms of his employer. The story will take us back through time and space, to Paris and Venice, revealing incredible plots and the rise and fall of one man...
After the fantastic novel The Signpost Case, here is the return of Stone, a new novel by Iain Pears, master of the complex story.
