Summary
Ghjacumu Thiers: Corsican Poetry: From Chant to Song (anthology)
Current Corsican poetry has a fairly uniform thematic territory dominated by the evocation of a past or endangered agricultural-pastoral civilization. Inspiration then has the characteristic of a strong and often pathetic existential testimony. The insular character of the country is also often the subject of that poetry, along with shapes, colors and smells, that is, an atmosphere that tries to be presented as a wise drunkenness of the senses. Of the topics present, the relationship to the land as a parent element is treated in very different ways. These general tendencies of poetic inspiration are joined by perhaps a more original production that at one time wanted to break with eternal poetic methods and themes. The selection of songs presented in this collection has deliberately focused on such type of songs. The collection "Corsican Poetry: From Song to Song" aims to show several of the most representative poems of contemporary island poetry.
