Summary
Angel Gavinet: The Spanish Idearium, the future of Spain
Thinking about the passion with which the teaching of the Immaculate Conception was established and expanded in Spain, I often thought that at the base of this teaching there must be some secret, which is connected in hidden ways to the secret of our national soul, that this teaching is perhaps a symbol, a magnificent symbol of our own life, in which, after a long and arduous motherhood, we enter old age with with a virgin spirit as a woman who, attracted by an irresistible call to monastic and ascetic life, and married against her will and turned into a mother out of duty, welcomes old age, finally discovering that her spirit was alien to her actions, that among the fruits of her body the soul remained alone like a mystical rose open to the ideals of virginity.
