Summary
Robert Jordan: Heavenly Fire
The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving behind memories that become legends. Legends fade into myths, and myths are long forgotten when the Age that spawned them reappears. In the Third Age, the Age of Prophecy, the World and Time hang in the balance. All that was, all that will be, and all that is can still fall under the Shadow.
The seals on the Dark One's prison are slowly weakening and it seems that the fragile dungeon of the Great Dark Lord will not be able to keep him imprisoned much longer. The lost, immortal servants of the Shadow, weave their snares and tighten the noose around the realm of men, certain of the soon return of the one to whom they swore allegiance.
Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn, tries to hold the human race together, but the Shaido Aiel give him the most trouble, who are on the move and want to cross the Spine of the World, destroying everything in their path. The White Tower has split and it is increasingly certain that its power and influence on the rulers is weakening. Moiraine's advice is ignored, but there is a price Rand will pay for it. Are tens of thousands of Aiel on his side, as well as Matt Cawthon and his sudden knowledge of warrior skills enough to get him out of the coming battle undefeated and unscathed? How many human lives will his conscious decision not to kill one woman cost him?
Betrayed by allies, pursued by many enemies, and faced with the madness that sometimes grips the people who rule the One Power, Rand rides to meet the enemy.
Heavenly fire surrounds the world.
