Summary
Josip Jagodar, Zvonimir Milošević: Ivan Šalić – Alojzij Stepinac's personal secretary
The central theme of this book is Ivan Šalić. It covers Šalić's childhood, elementary and high school education, study time, military service, and completion of studies and ordination as a priest. His priestly service and studies of canon law and doctorate in Rome, which were interrupted at the beginning of the Second World War in the area of present-day Croatia, are described. In that period, he was also appointed the secretary of Archbishop Alojzije Stepinac, which marked his life until his death.
Events from the Second World War in which Šalić participated, his arrest and trial in a trial with several defendants, among whom was Zagreb Archbishop Dr. Alojzije Stepinac, were analyzed. After the conviction, the period spent in the Penitentiary in Stara Gradiška, where Šalić served his prison sentence, was covered. It should be noted that the book contains all available letters and correspondence that he sent to his family and which the family sent to him from 1946 to 1981.
