Summary
Ivo Andrić: Bridge on the Drina
Although the echoes of major geopolitical events (Turkish defeats in Hungary, wars, loss of territory, uprisings, gradual weakening of the power of the Ottoman Empire, social changes...) constantly reach the Visegrad kasaba - which metonymically represents the whole of Bosnia - the Visegrad chronicle, filled with death, suffering and fear before the forces of destruction, still ends with a hymn to *homo faber* and to the sublime human effort to bridge chasms, reconcile extremes and connect shores.
