Summary

Ivo Andrić: Signs

"Signs on the Road" is one of those books that remain a favorite read from generation to generation, to which readers return again and again. According to his own words, Andrić started recording his impressions and observations in his pocket notebook when he was eighteen years old. From these records - the oldest of which dates from 1916 - the collection "Roadside Signs" was created, a veritable treasure trove of his thoughts, sketches and travel observations in which our Nobel laureate dealt with questions of life and death, thoughts on art and artists, literary creativity and the position of the writer. In these meditative notes, Andrić was occupied with thoughts about women and love, friendship, dreams... First published after the author's death, "Signs on the Road" are today one of Andrić's most widely read and well-known books.
