Summary
Gabriel Garcia Marquez: The Amazing and Sad Story of the Chaste Erendira and Her Heartless Grandmother
This extraordinary book contains the short story of the same name, as well as six other stories, all but one of which were written during the author's full literary maturity. Those were the years when Macondo opened the door to magical realism. The chaste Erendira and her callous grandmother embody innocence and evil, love and depravity, and the story at the same time reminds of medieval expeditions, Provençal or troubadour songs, although, as always, immersed in that condensed and fertile world of the Caribbean.
